How to engage?

There are many ways of engaging with us, at BERI. In an effort to attract the best minds and to tackle the really difficult problems in bio-engineering, we offer a BERI Fellowship suitable for people at different levels in their careers. The funding available is healthy and, more importantly, the resources and expertise of the institutes in the Bangalore Bio Cluster (NCBS, inStem, C-CAMP) become accessible. So, come join us.

Fellowship opportunities follow the pattern for extramural funding at NCBS. Please follow the links below for further details, and contact us at beri [AT] ncbs.res.in

Early Career Award
These are postdoctoral positions, under existing research programs in the Bangalore Bio Cluster. Applicants are expected to work alongside the lab members, while bringing in expertise in bio-engineering. If you are interested in such a position, you are encouraged to explore the research programs, contact the faculty, and submit proposals for postdoctoral research. Typical appointments are for 2 years, with possible extension for a third year.

Young Investigator Program
This Young Investigator Programme (YIP) is for exceptionally talented, young scientists, who wish to establish themselves rapidly as independent researchers.  A YIP is typically for a period of 5 years, with the expectation that, upon completion, people will be able to establish a research program in another institute.

Chair Position

Senior researchers will be invited as Chair Professors. We will provide seed funding up to Rs. 25 lakhs (US$ 50,000) per annum for 2 years, with the understanding that

  1. all staff appointements (include post-doctoral positions) will be within India
  2. all capital equipment purchased must be retained within the Bangalore Bio Cluster
  3. the project will have at least one partner in the Bangalore Bio Cluster

BERI Fellows will act as principle investigators on their projects and will be required to submit their progress reports for peer review.
